LEESBURG – Quarterback Wyatt Rector has established himself as one of the nations premier passers halfway through his freshmen season. Rector is Central Florida’s leading passer according to the Orlando Sentinel. Rector comes into tonight’s game with 1,329 yards in five starts this season.

Rector leads the Jackets (3-2, 0-0) in rushing with 231 yards. He will play in his first district game
tonight against the Eagles of Edgewater High School (2-2, 0-0) at Leesburg Memorial Field at Hubert O. Dabney Stadium. Edgewater has been picked by several media outlets as the favorite to win the Class 6A District 10 Championship.

The Jackets are attempting to advance to the FHSAA State playoffs three consecutive years for time
since the early 1930’s. A win tonight by Leesburg would put them in the drivers seat of district race and in position to win back to back district titles for the first time in the programs 90 year history. Rector’s grandfather Charlie Rector won a district championship at LHS in 1971 and his father Clay Rector (Carson-Newman College) in 1992.

Rector’s father Clay played in the famous 1991 game between the two schools in a game that will
forever be remembered by the Jacket Nation. Leesburg pulled that one off that night on a goal line
stand on the last play of the game. Ty Lawrence’s tackle on Edgewater’s Gerod Davis in the backfield
was heard around the state and propelled the program to elite status.

Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m
